Storytimes Offered at the Forest Park Public Library

The library offers two regular weekly storytimes on Mondays and Fridays most months of the year. Drop-ins are always welcome at these events.

Bilingual Storytime Mondays at 11 am
This is a bilingual Spanish and English storytime with books, songs, and movement. This is open to Spanish learners and enthusiasts as well as Spanish speakers and features selections from our robust Spanish and bilingual English/Spanish collections.

Baby Bookworms Storytime Fridays at 11 am
This is a lapsit storytime that emphasizes movement, and short, fast-moving segments to engage short attention spans and encourage caregiver and child interaction.

In addition, we offer limited-run series and pop-up storytimes throughout the year which include:

Storytimes at the Park (this series is hosted at least twice a year as weather permits)
Our storytimes at the park are outdoor storytimes for ages five and under and hosted at one of the pocket parks throughout Forest Park. Popelka and Veterans’ Park are frequently featured. Registration is encouraged for these so we can let registrants know of weather-related location changes.

Stroller Strides Storytimes (check the Calendar of Events for upcoming dates)
This storytime is a collaboration with Fit4Mom and features a stroller workout for the grown-ups followed by a storytime and activity afterwards for the kids.

Monster Mash Storytime and Parade
A seasonal primarily music and movement-focused storytime held the Friday before Halloween. Snacks are offered and a costume parade folows.

Playgroups and Meetups (held weekly in August and December during storytime break)
These free play sessions, sometimes featuring interactive stations or drop-in open-ended art activities, offer an opportunity for parents and caregivers to socialize and connect during our storytime breaks.

Storytime Concerts (debut the new storytime session In September, January, and June)
Music and movement with performances from acclaimed area performers including family favorites like Little Miss Ann, Laura Doherty, Istvan and His Imaginary Band, Justin Roberts, Nanny Nikki, Little Parade, and Mi Amigo Hamlet.

Special Guest Storytimes (multiple times a year, see the Calendar of Events for upcoming dates
These feature readings by local authors or visits bypopular storytbook or movie characters such as Barbie, princesses, or superheroes.

Community Storytimes
You may also see us performing storytimes out in the community at partner sites such as Cast, Let’s Play Work, and area preschools and daycares. Are you a business interested in a storytime visit? Please contact our Youth Services Outreach Assistant at crobles@fppl.org.
