What You Need to Know

The FPPL WiFi Hotspot is an easy-to-use, mobile hotspot that keeps your tablet, laptop, and other WiFi-enabled devices connected to the internet.

How do I check out the device?
Stop by the Forest Park Public Library to place a hold and check it out just like any other item.

Who can check out this device?
Anyone who has a valid Forest Park Public Library card can check out a hotspot.

How long can I keep it?
You can borrow it for two weeks. The overdue fine for a hotspot is $2 per day, up to the replacement cost of the item. If you do not return the hotspot by the due date, internet access will be turned off.

Can I reserve a hotspot?

Can I use the hotspot outside of the US?
No, the hotspots only work in the US.

Can I use the hotspot to send/receive text messages?
No. Texting/SMS messaging is not available.

How do I return it?
Hotspots can only be returned at the Patron Services Desk. A $15 fee will be charged for hotspots returned to the book drop.

How do I renew it?
Hotspots cannot be renewed.

How much does it cost?

What information about my internet usage, if any, is tracked by the library or the service provider?
Your internet usage is not tracked by the library. For more information about the service provider, go to Sprint’s Privacy Policy.

Can reciprocal borrowers check out a hotspot?

Hotspots are available only for Forest Park Public Library cardholders. Looking for options? Communities including Chicago and Oak Park offer mobile hotspots to their library cardholders.
