Food & School Lunches

Howard Mohr Community Center Food Pantry
7640 Jackson Blvd, Forest Park, IL
The Food Pantry at the Howard Mohr Community Center is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 am-3:30 pm for curbside delivery of foods to FP residents in need.  Please call ahead, so they can prepare for you: 708-771-7737.

They will receive donations in the same way: call ahead, then connect curbside: 708-771-7737 They are accepting donations in food and monetary donations. 

Available Community Center Senior Services:

Little Free Pantry at the Forest Park Public Library
7555 Jackson Blvd, Forest Park, IL
Anyone at anytime can take items from the Little Free Pantry. We hope it will be stocked with food and things people need like non-perishable food items and toiletry items, such as bars, canned goods (pop tops are best), proteins, personal care items, new socks, etc. We are not collecting razors, chemicals, clothing, homemade items, or unsealed or opened food. If you have a question, please ask in the library or email us at askus@fppl.org.
*If you need to pick up groceries please consider dropping things in our Little Free Pantry on your way home.*

Beyond Hunger
Beyond Hunger is open and giving away food.
Service hours:  Saturdays: 9 am – 12 pm, 1st Wednesday of the month, 6- 7:30 pm, and al other Wednesdays: 3:30- 5:00 pm.

They require a photo ID and proof of residence in their service area, which does include Forest Park.

They are not accepting donations of items but are accepting monetary donations.

Schools Bagged Lunches

District 91 Grab & Go Lunch
Free lunch is available to all students. Families living north of I-290 pick up in front of Garfield School (543 Hannah Ave, Forest Park, IL ). Families living south of I-290 pick up in the vestibule behind Field-Stevenson/Forest Park Middle School (424 Des Plaines Ave, Forest Park, IL).

District 209 Grab & Go Breakfast and Lunch
D209 will assist families during this time with free Grab & Go Breakfast and Lunch. Families can pick up meals for school age children age 18 and under at the nearest PTHS D209 school. Breakfast will be served from 9 am to 10 am, and lunch will be served between 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Meals will be distributed at the Tower Entrance at Proviso East, the Visitor Entrance at Proviso West, and the North Entrance at PMSA.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, students can pick up 2 days worth of food, 2 cold breakfasts, and 2 cold lunches. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, students can pick up 1 days worth of food. Food is able to be picked up between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Food can be picked up at Door 2 of Proviso East, Visitor’s Entrance at Proviso West,  and North Entrance of PMSA.

Housing Forward news and updates

The 24 hour-a-day shelter site has been closed. All clients have been moved to individual accommodations effective Sunday, March 22. The Oak Park and Maywood offices and daytime Support Center are also temporarily closed. More info at Housing Forward: COVID-19 Update Page. Internet & WiFi

Comcast
Comcast has announced 60 days free in-home, high-speed Internet access for low-income households, and open, free access to all XFINITY WiFi Hotspots for anyone. There are also additional initiatives.

Library WiFi Available Outside of Building
The Library WiFi will be available outside of the building. It can be accessed by anyone. We encourage social distancing if you decide to come to the Library and use the WiFi.

District 91 School District
The schools are will be closed for the rest of the school year.

E-learning will continue until the end of the school year. School will not be held during during Remote Learning Days on Friday, May 1, Friday, May 15, and Friday, May 29.

Proviso Township District 209 School District- Closed
All three Proviso Township high schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year.

D209 will provide free meals during mandated school closures for school aged children 18 and under. Families can pick up meals at nearest PTHS D209 school. More info here.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, students can pick up 2 days worth of food, 2 cold breakfasts, and 2 cold lunches. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, students can pick up 1 days worth of food. If students need a laptop, power cord, internet, or if their issued laptop isn’t working correctly, they may contact the technology department at 708-338-5911. Leave your name, student’s name and ID, your telephone number, and a description of your need. The school will contact families about when and where they can pick up the items. Hotspots are limited and they suggested trying to go through Comcast for free internet first.

Senior Services

Walmart has Senior Hours 1 hour before opening on Tuesdays through April 28. Jewel-Osco in River Forest has Senior Hours from 7-9 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Senior Bus Transportation, by appointment, for dialysis and medical appointments, with verbal health pre-screening.

Village of Forest Park Organizations

Village Hall- Building Closed
Forest Park Vehicle Sticker Deadline has been extended until further notice.
Vehicle Sticker enforcement is suspended until further notice.

Pay water bills, parking tickets, vehicle stickers, etc. online, through the mail, or by utilizing the secure drop box placed next to the Village Hall front door.

The Village of Forest Park Lobby will be closed to the public until further notice. Staffing will be limited inside the building Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm for phone calls only if needed, please dial 708-366-2323.
The Police Department non-emergency Desk will be available by phone 24 hours a day please dial 708-366-2425. Please be assured that the Police Officers and Firefighters are not affected by this order and residents are urged to call 911 in the event of an emergency.
The Village of Forest Park has lifted the overnight parking band effective immediately.

Forest Park Public Library- Closed  

The Library is closed until further notice. All programs and most services have been canceled. Library material due dates have all been extended to May 1. Digital materials and online learning resources are available with your library card. Don’t have a library card. Apply here. Need help with finding your PIN, paying a fine, etc. Let us know at askus@fppl.org.

Park District of Forest Park– Closed
All programs and facilities including outdoor facilities (bathrooms, skate park, soccer field, tennis courts, and in-line skate rink) are closed to the public until further notice. This is a fluid situation and could change.

The Park District’s customer service staff will be available via phone Monday-Friday from 8 am-6 pm at 708-366-7500.
