All-Ages Winter Reading Challenge 2026

February 1-28

Sign up for the Forest Park Public Library’s all-ages Winter Reading Challenge! Track how many days you read to reach for the gold. Not sure what to read? Just ask one of our library staff members, check out our recommendation lists, or browse our online catalog to find something that will get your head in the game.

Readers of all ages can sign up here. 

How does the Winter Reading Challenge work?

  1. Sign up for the challenge online or in the library. Pick up your reading log at the Library beginning January 16. This program can be done with the paper log or download the fillable PDF here. 
  2. Keep track of every day you read 20 minutes or more from February 1-28 in the reading log.
  3. Turn in your completed reading log by March 7 to be entered into a drawing for the grand prizes. We will have one grand prize for each age group. You can turn in your completed reading log at the Info Desk or send us a photo of it to readingchallenge@fppl.org.

What are the Winter Reading Challenge prizes? 

There will be one grand prize for each age group:

  • Adults: Gift card to local restaurant
  • Teens (8th grade-12th grade): Cell Phone Photo Printer
  • Kids: $50 SkyZone Trampoline Park gift card
  • Kids 5 & under: $50 WonderWorks gift card

Winter Reading Events: 

Library Olympics (all ages) | Friday, January 30, 6 pm to 8 pm  

Get into the Olympic spirit at the FPPL! Join us for a fun-filled evening of friendly competition at the Library Olympics. Participants of all ages can participate in events like the Dewey Dash, Magazine Curling, and the Book Balance Relay. Come with a team or on your own, test your skills, and enjoy our library’s take on classic Olympic events. 

Winter Reading Book Buzz (adults) | Sunday, February 22, 4 pm to 6 pm

Do you love talking about books with other readers and the FPPL librarians? Join us for our Winter Reading Book Buzz at local hotspot, Casa Humilde (7700 Madison St, Forest Park, IL). Library staff will present titles we’re excited about, and we’ll all talk books over Casa Humilde appetizers. Come on in from the snow and ice and warm up with this great event!
