The Forest Park Public Library now offers a temporary library card.

To get a card, all you have to show is a non-expired photo ID with name and birthdate and provide at least one method of communication (email or phone number).

Who is it for?
People who are residing in Forest Park temporarily or who live in Forest Park but don’t have a permanent or consistent residence. This could look like: 

  • Staying with a friend or family member
  • Visiting Forest Park for an extended vacation 
  • Temporary work/study stay
  • Might be unhoused but primarily staying in Forest Park

This library card is also for:

  • People who may or may not have proof of their temporary residence in Forest Park, and in either case, they are eligible for a temporary card
  • Both adults and kids under 18 (with parent/guardian permission)
  • People who meet the above criteria and don’t already have a valid library card in SWAN

Parameters of the Temporary Library Card

  • Valid for six months from the date they are issued
  • Checkout up to five items at a time
  • Can be used at any SWAN or Illinois library (reciprocal borrower registration may be required)
  • No FPPL gadgets, hotspot, or kits checkouts on these cards

Holds

  • This card can place up to five holds at a time
  • This card is not eligible to place holds on new materials
  • Interlibrary Loan through OCLC is not available

Bills and Blocking

  • These cards will be blocked if they have $10 in billed fees for lost or damaged books.
