The Forest Park Public Library (FPPL) is teaming up with several other Proviso Township libraries to collect prom attire for a Pop Up Shop happening in April.

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for our teens to ‘shop’ in a sustainable, accessible and affordable way,” says Martha Sullivan, Young Adult Services Manager at Forest Park. “Prom should be fun and celebratory. Everyone deserves the chance to look their best.”

Teen librarians from FPPL, Northlake Public Library District, Maywood Library, Westchester Public Library, and Hillside Public Library decided to pool resources to create a way for teens to access fun clothing for the big event.

Continues Sullivan, “I had the idea of getting together with other librarians at the libraries that serve Proviso District 209. We’re all so close and have kids at different schools, it makes a lot of sense for us to work together and support each other.”

Each library will be collecting pre-loved and gently used or new prom attire. All items will be brought to the Maywood Public Library for a Pop-Up Shop on Saturday, April 6 from 2-4 pm. The Maywood Public Library is located at 121 S 5th Avenue in Maywood. High schoolers from around Proviso Township are invited to attend.
