February is Low Vision Awareness Month!
The Forest Park Public Library in partnership with the Oak Park-River Forest Lions Club will be collecting used eyeglasses to be repurposed for those in need or recycled.
You can drop off glasses (including sunglasses and readers) at the Info Desk on the main level of the Library.
These recycled eyeglasses are given to people in need, with the help of various medical missionaries, in Central and South America and around the world. When the eyeglasses arrive in these countries, doctors and technicians conduct eye exams and provide a free pair of prescription eyeglasses that are as close as possible to that person’s sight needs.
Lions International has been a champion in helping combat vision impairment and blindness since 1925.
