The Forest Park Public Library Board of Trustees is looking for a Forest Park resident to serve on our Finance Committee. This volunteer position is a year-long commitment with potential for re-appointment. It’s a great way to learn more about how the Library levies taxes, collects revenue, and budgets for fiscal years. The Committee meets about three times per year with the most activity happening in the fall and winter. Our meetings typically last about an hour. Experience, education, or a background in finance is preferred.

If you’re interested in serving on this committee, please send a letter of interest and your resume to Eboni Murry, Board Treasurer at emurray@fppl.org.

We’ll be accepting resumes until Monday, August 14. The next step is for the Board to review resumes and invite a few people for an interview with the Board.

In the article from the July 18 Forest Park Review article, the reporter stated that the Library would be searching for a community representative on the policy committee first, and would not be seeking a finance committee representative. However, the article was incorrect — the Board is searching for a Finance Committee Representative first. There will be some policy committee work later in the year, but the Board thinks it’s most important to focus on the Finance Committee, as government finances are always on a very steady and consistent cycle.
