While the Library building is closed, Library staff members are still hard at work. From maintaining the building to creating online storytimes, we are constantly thinking about how to best serve Forest Park during these difficult times. Check out some of the great things we can offer virtually.
FPPL Connect Line
The Library offers several ways to get in touch. If you have questions about the Library, need to be connected with resources, or just want to say hi to a friendly voice, please call us at 708-366-7171. You can also reach out to us on Facebook, Instagram, or through email at askus@fppl.org.
Virtual Social Work
The Library continued its internship program with Loyola School of Social Work. Our social work intern Raqueal Pullums is available for online social work sessions. Email her at socialworkintern@fppl.org.
Downloadable and streaming content
The Library offers thousands of free ebooks, audiobooks, movies, music, comics, tv shows, and magazines available for download or streaming. Go to fppl.org/streaming to get started.
E-learning resources
The Library has subscriptions to great online resources to help you learn and research during quarantine. Learn a new language with Mango Languages, research genealogy with Ancestry.com, research a new purchase with Consumer Reports, learn something new with Lynda.com, do business research with Reference USA, and more. Go to fppl.org/onlineresources.
FPPL TV
We love providing quality and entertaining programs and events. During quarantine, that hasn’t changed. We have taken some of our programs and services online through videos. We created a new platform called FPPL TV to host all the great content Library staff is making for the community. Go to tv.fppl.org.
Resource Guides
Library staff have created a variety of resource guides to help you find current and correct information about Forest Park, family activities, wellness, business, jobs, and more. Go to fppl.org/fpcommunityresources.
Connection and sharing through social media
One of the only ways we have to connect right now is our social media channels. We are putting a lot of useful and interesting content on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Follow us and stay up-to-date on all the great resources we offer.
Digital Library Card
As soon as the Library closed, we worked hard to create a new digital library card for the community. This card gives Forest Park residents full access to all our online content like ebooks, movies, online learning, and more. If you need a card, go to fppl.org/templibrarycard.
Extended Our WiFi
The Library’s WiFi is available for use outside of the Library. No password is needed. See a full map of outdoor WiFi access in Illinois here.
We are working hard to stay up-to-date on the changing world so that we can be ready to reopen your Library safely and appropriately. Our top concern is the health and safety of the community and our staff. While we may not be in the Library building, we are working safely from our homes to provide you with support and content to help you through this difficult time.
Stay in touch by following us on Facebook, Instagram, or sign up for our e-newsletter.
Thank you for your support! We can’t wait to see you again!
